The Express Entry System is an online application management system that aims to ensure faster processing and better economic outcomes for permanent residence to Canada under both federal and certain provincial programs.

Under the Federal Program, there are (3) categories to immigrate under:

1. Federal Skilled Worker
2.  Federal Skilled Trade
3. Canadian Experience Class

Provinces who have Express Entry aligned pathways may use the Express Entry pool to search for candidates that meet their economic or labor needs and issue notifications of interest (NOI’s).

In order to be eligible for one of the Express Entry programs, you must check whether you meet the requirements based on several selection factors. You must score a minimum of 67 points out of a possible 100.

4. Language Proficiency
5. Family Members in Canada
6. Job Offer in Canada

• Once you determine you are eligible for one of the Federal Express Entry programs, you may create an Express Entry profile
• You will be placed into a pool of candidates
• Once you are in the pool, you will be ranked in according to a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Your CRS score is based on the information in your profile.
• The CRS score is based on several factors that will rank you against the other candidates in the pool
• Candidates with the highest CRS scores will be issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence

The points you get from the CRS include a core set of points up to 600 and a set of additional points of up to 600. Your total score will be out of 1,200.

Core: Up to 600 points

• Skills and experience factors
• Spouse or common-law partner factors, such as their language skills and education
• Skills transferability, including education and work experience

Additional: Up to 600 points

• Canadian degrees, diplomas or certificates
• a valid job offer
• a nomination from a province or territory
• a brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident
• strong French language skills

Core points + Additional points = your total score out of 1200
