How Much Should I Invest in to Get a Green Card in the U.S?
To obtain a U.S. green card through investment, you typically apply through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. As of 2024, you must invest:
- At least $1,050,000 in a new commercial enterprise; or
- At least $800,000 if the investment is made in a Targeted Employment Area (TEA), which includes rural areas or places with high unemployment.
In addition to investing the required amount, you must also create or preserve at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers.
It’s important to note that besides the investment, there are additional costs such as legal fees, filing fees, and administrative fees if you invest through a regional centre. These extra costs can add another $50,000–$100,000 or more.
Always consult with an experienced immigration attorney to structure your investment correctly and ensure you meet all EB-5 program requirements.
