Only a short two weeks after their last draw, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted their 85th historical draw, issuing 222 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA’s) for Canadian Permanent Residency (CanadaPR). Applicants in the International Education Stream (IES), Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) and Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO) all received LAA. Of the 222 Invitations, LAA’s were issued as follows: 191 candidates invited under the SWM; 13 candidates invited under the SWO; and, 18 candidates received invitations under the IES. Of the 222 LAA’s, 17 had a valid Express Entry ID.

The MPNP works on an Expression of Interest (EOI) process where candidates must submit an online EOI profile. The profile is then placed in a pool with other candidates and those with the highest EOI Ranking Points may then submit a full application to the Province. EOI Ranking is based on Language Proficiency, Age, Work Experience, Education, Adaptability, minus Risk Assessment. Although a job offer is not required, the MPNP does require a “connection” to the Province, which may include relatives, close friends, or through an Invitation to Apply (ITA) received directly from the MPNP under one of their Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.

For this latest draw, those who received LAA under the SWO were all invited under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest ranking score for SWO was 672 and 496 for SWM.
