On October 28, 2020, Quebec put forth a draft regulation in the Gazette Officiel du Québec

with plans to introduce 3 new permanent immigration pilot programs for the period of November 1, 2020 to November 1, 2021.

These permanent immigration programs will be in addition to the existing Quebec Skilled Worker and Quebec Experience Program. Through a special agreement with the Canadian government, Quebec is able to have its own immigration pathways for selecting immigrants to live in the province.

The three new pilot programs will consist of:

  1. the pilot program for orderlies;
  2. the pilot program for workers in the artificial intelligence (AI), information technologies (IT), and visual effects sectors;
  3. the pilot program for workers in food processing (FP).

The pilot programs will last for 5 years and will provide up to 550 candidates per year in each category, as well as their family members, according to the Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI).
