As part of its efforts to attract skilled workers and fill labour shortages and promote economic growth in rural and small Ontario communities, Ontario has implemented the Regional Immigration Program, a 2-year pilot program set to begin accepting applications in early 2020. The fee will be $1,500.

The OINP Regional Immigration Pilot will accept approximately 150 applicant nominations under the “Employer Job Offer” Stream, for designated pilot communities. The communities participating in the pilot include Chatham-Kent, Belleville and Quinte West, and Cornwall.

The OINP’s Employer Job Offer streams will be the model for the new pilot. Therefore, the criteria for the pilot will mirror the Employer Job offer stream. Program eligibility will remain the same, except there must be a full-time job offer from a participating employer within the pilot community.

Nominations under the OINP Employer Job Offer will be based on the same three streams:

  1. Foreign Skilled Worker stream – Professional, Managerial and Skilled occupations requiring post-secondary education
  2. International Student stream – graduates of a post-secondary institution in Ontario
  3. InDemand Skills stream- intermediate skilled workers, including the fields of agriculture, construction, and occupations such as nurse aids, home support workers, residential and commercial installers, truck drivers, heavy equipment operators, farm, nursery and greenhouse workers, butchers and meat cutters

You are urged to review the requirements of the OINP Employer Job offer stream and make sure you qualify under one of the streams above. You must also take an approved language test and obtain an education evaluation. You must then find a full-time job from one of the designated employers in any one of the three communities.

The process to find a job and navigate through the communities may be tedious and we at the Law Firm of Faryal R. Poonah are here to help. Only the first 150 applicants will receive nominations so it is in your best interest to trust the work of a Licensed Attorney. We will guide and assist you through the entire process.

Please complete our online assessment and provide your supporting documents so we can assess your eligibility for this and any other programs.
