On May 15, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), conducted draw #148 another targeted Express Entry (EE) draw, issuing 3371 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates with Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) score of 447. This is another push from IRCC to target CEC candidates as most of them are currently residing in Canada and therefore, would not have the issue of travel restrictions to deal with. This is the lowest CRS score we have seen for EE CEC applicants. During the last draw on April 30, 2020, the CRS score was 452.

EE draws are conducted every two weeks and has continued even amidst COVID-19. This is the 5th EE CEC draw that IRCC has held since its last All-Program draw on March 4, 2020. IRCC’s decision to conduct targeted draws works alongside the restrictions imposed by the Government in response to COVID-19 and the exemptions for Temporary Foreign Workers (TPW).

IRCC has moved to targeted draws, pulling from EE applicants with Canadian experience, or those with a Provincial Nomination (PNP). If have applied under the EE program and are currently in the pool of applicants, there is no guarantee of when IRCC will commence all-program draws. In the meantime, an EE application is valid for 1 year.
